THINKING AND INFORMATION SYSTEMS-SOME REFLECTIONS ON THEIR RELATIONSHIP AND ON A CONFERENCE SPECIAL TRACK Systems thinking and Information Systems – some reflections on their relationship and on a conference special track

This paper is a reflection on the current status of the relationship between systems thinking and Information Systems. It starts with an overview of several major recent attempts at research level to bring these two fields closer to each other. The paper provides a reflection on the major issues that emerge from the papers submitted to the systems thinking/systems practice track of the ISOneWorld 2007 Conference. These are separately discussed on a theoretical level and also on a practical level. These findings are mapped onto some directions for future research related to more applications of systems thinking in the IS discipline.
